Words from Those I’ve Worked With

Each session is different. Each body speaks differently.

What follows are reflections from people who have experienced this work.

Some speak of physical relief, others of rest, safety, or a feeling of being deeply held.

I cannot recommend Camila Nieuwlands from The Aroha Project highly enough. Her communication skills are truly extraordinary.

So much so that we asked her to be the MC at our wedding, a role which she carried our with delightful finesse and enthusiasm.

The way she listens is second to none — I have never felt so deeply heard and held as I do when I’m in conversation with her. What makes Camila especially remarkable is the quality of the questions she asks. She is genuinely curious about people and truly fascinated by how we think and experience the world. When you speak with her, you feel a rare combination of being deeply supported while also being invited into greater self-awareness.

Her boundaries are both incredibly clear and deeply kind, which creates a space where I always feel safe, never judged — simply witnessed. Conversations with Camila always leave me feeling like I understand myself more deeply.

Camila is also my go-to massage therapist. She even massaged me on my wedding day! Her massages are slow, luscious, and incredibly nourishing. She specialises in myofascial release, which I find to be the most effective and transformative type of bodywork. If you book with her, make sure you allow at least 90 minutes — you will not regret it.

And as if that weren’t enough, Camila is also the best yoga teacher I have ever practiced with. When I moved back to Aotearoa in 2020, discovering her classes felt like such a gift — I never wanted to leave. It’s only distance that keeps me from practicing with her more often now.

I am so proud and grateful to know Camila. She is a rare and beautiful human, and I recommend her offerings wholeheartedly.

They are not just about the physical but the whole body, mind and spirit. They cater to all these things. Unlike deep tissue massage where a specific outcome is desired it feels like my whole body is being seen to and you can create a space for a safe opening for whatever needs to come bubbling up whether it's emotional, physical or spiritual. I have a strong sense that it's all welcome, whatever it is. This is very safe and nourishing for me.
Your hands speak the language of touch, they are responsive to what they find when they touch me.  WHen i come out of the massage I feel so much lighter (and sometimes really tired/sleepy) yet your massages are lighter in pressure than deep tissue massages I've had from others. My body doesn't fight you, it works with you. As if we have worked through some stuff that needed to be worked through and I'm left with a sense that I can move forward again

It's a real beautiful integrity and presence that you bring. I admire the way you communicate and seek to understand really clearly. I feel a real sense of being heard and seen which builds trust and the effort you put into that is really beautiful. The 2-3 times I have received your offerings it's been so fast for my nervous system to feel safe. My experience is that the space is so cleanly and well held. Ease and trust and safety allow me to melt in ways that I haven't in massage before. The encouragement to vocalise and release in any way. It feels like a really holistic offering that you have that works on all sorts of subtle levels, not just the physical. I feel a lot of people would really stand to gain and benefit from (to have this experience). You're great at making people feel safe and allowing all parts of them to take up space.

What I notice about your spaceholidng is the clarity because you make it very distinct when you ask questions that you stay very clear on not coming up with your stuff or reacting or blurring the boundaries of holding space for someone else and your own stuff. That's why I think you are a good listener and spaceholder. I also appreciate and value the slowness of your approach, the physical touch in regards to finding out what's there and what's going on and inviting me to actively release anything and to make it transparent whats going on for me, you do this in a very subtle way so i don't feel any pressure to perform to any expectations.or any i should be doing this or that . I appreciate your inquiries and I can take them wherever I want to go.

Will you share how this work has impacted you?
